Bennie Smith (C '86)

has been selected as the winner of the Heart of The Corp Award, given to a Corp alumnus who fully embodies the values of The Corp and Georgetown!

As a member of the Georgetown Class of 1986 who graduated as a history major from the College, he was hired as a stocker/cashier in Saxa Sundries his freshman year and went on to become a Corp officer in the role of VP, Operations.
As an alumnus, he’s supported Georgetown in many ways including as an interviewer in the Alumni Admissions Program, supporter and mentor in the Georgetown Scholars Program, Class of “86 Ambassador, and early advocate of the Georgetown LGBTQ Resource Center. He is Chair of the Students of Georgetown, Inc.’s Alumni Advisory Committee and a member of the Georgetown Board of Governors.
He is the co-author of “Georgetown University," a new book that tells the story of the oldest Catholic and Jesuit university in America. https://georgetownhistorybook.com.

His post-graduate career has focused on risk management in various fields including insurance and venture capital-backed advertising technology. He currently lives in New York City.
